  24. Not reportedly, they definitely did:  the Viet Cong had a massive network of
  25. tunnels with underground hospitals, bunkers, etc.  The tunnels around Ho Chi
  26. Minh City were widened and now serve as tourist attractions.  An acquaintance
  27. of mine took the tour and said that even though they had been widened 
  28. considerably, it was incredibly claustrophobic.

  30. There was actually a military unit specifically devoted to entering these 
  31. tunnels, killing or capturing anyone they found and then blowing up the 
  32. tunnels.  The worst part of the duty was that once you entered, you could 
  33. not turn around until you reached one of the major underground chambers, 
  34. and more than one of the members of the "Rats" lost it.

  36. There is book that details this unit's exploits, but unfortunately I 
  37. can't remember the title.
